Polygon Sigilism
Polygon Sigilism is a magical script inspired by the sound and the infinite ways we can manipulate a single line. By writing characters through sound, Polygon Sigilism provides an opportunity to visualize sound in decorated geometry. Similar to sigils within witchcraft, these sigils are wonderful for meditation, manifestation, and creating new diverse paths.
Above is the translation sheet for this script. The underlined letters in the words are the sounds that correlate to the sigil, with the IPA character to the left and sigils to the right. You can download the image here.
RULES:
Polygon Sigilism is built from intuited guidance and the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA). Phonetics are characters that capture sound rather than the combination of characters used to make those sounds. Because of this, Polygon Sigilism is able to be written in multiple languages. Each word we want to capture is traced along a shape.
The amount of syllables in the word equals the amount of sides the polygon has, however this rule can be ignored when using curves and circular patterns. After you know which word you want to decorate (you can also start with a shape then find a word that fits it!), the next step is creating an “origin point” of the polygon.
The origin point is up to you, but most easily starts in a corner, or on a directional axis like North and South. Each side of the polygon contains the characters to create a single syllable of that word, until the shape is fully drawn out and the word is scripted. From here, you can layer more shapes in front, behind, or around what you already have.
The final step and one of the most important, is to decorate! Things are only as good as the energy you put into them, so the more time you spend decorating and designing your sigil, the exponentially more power it will have!
The sigil shown is an example of two words in a single sigil. The outer square sigil reads “Security” (4 syllables) and the inner triangle reads “Abundance” (3 syllables). Feel free to use this sigil for your own use <3
any phonetics not from the English Language were not intuited in this project. If you are interested in intuiting sigils for phonetics within your language, you can contact me here.
